R Wilkinson Stand honours club founder

The last founding member of the Hoppers Crossing Soccer Club and first Club President Ray Wilkinson has been honoured at the first home game of 2023 by having our veranda named the R. Wilkinson Stand.

Ray Wilkinson unveiled the sign with his name on it just before the Round 1 clash with Hume United on Saturday 18 March 2023.

Ray is the last surviving member of the clubs founders who included: Stan Walkden, Ron Tutchell and Ken Slack. Their vision of a local soccer club became real in 1971 when the Mossfiel Rangers took the pitch at our old home ground at Mossfiel Reserve.

While the club changed its name to the Hoppers Crossing Soccer Club and we moved to our current location, the history Ray and his fellow founders started needs to be recognised and celebrated.
