With Dominic playing the sweepers role to perfection, Sal, as solid as a rock at the heart of the defense & the rookies Adam & Chelsea not giving their direct opponents any space, what few chances Brimbank created were comfortably saved by stand in keeper Christian.

Unfortunately Christian was unable to stop Brimbank from scoring mid way through the first half when a cross from the right was flicked on by Sal only for it to land on the head of a Brimbank forward to nod home.

However with half time beckoning disaster struck - a corner taken by Brimbank was able to sneak past the Hoppers defense & find the back of the net.

2 – 0 but with the aid of the breeze the attitude of the players was still positive.

With Dion having his best game of the year & Assad showing glimpses of his silky dribbling skills it appeared only a matter of time before Hoppers finally broke their goal drought – alas it was Brimbank who had the final say when a fast counter attacking move resulted in a goal despite the heroics of Christian in goal.

In what would have been a deserving finale, Hoppers threw caution to the wind in an attempt to score with everybody going forward after we had been awarded a free kick some 40m out from goal. With Dylan floating in a mesmerizing free kick Michael’s effort to get his head on it fell tantalizing short..

All in all it was a promising performance
