Round 20 28/8/2010 Although promotion has passed us by the senior team again found themselves in a battle, tough persistant pressure by both teams gave the spectators a good display of football, tough at times and great to watch. Hoppers came out winners 2-1 to keep a good second half of the season standard. Round 19 21/8/2010 What does one say poor defence, very bad ground, no one able to settle, the ball chase became a battle and a goal conceded which was reward for effort not ours. 2nd half equaliser scored then came the collapse, conceding a penalty for hand ball taken again after a great save by our keeper due to players inside the area. next minute wakie wakie they catch defence a sleep, down the drain 1-3 and theres more Lalor player allowed time to turn hammered in a 40 metre blinder unstoppable fluke but a goal. Season has now just become a wait for the last one to pass. 1-4 loss. Round 18 14/8/2010 The chase for promotion is finished losing 0-1 at home the hard work became to much, the frentic pace and unsettled manner in which the game was played gave all players dificulty in controlling the ball the extreme high winds were an issue all day, many chances created great saves kept Hoppers at bay and we just could not find the back of the net. Round 17 7/8/2010 The run has come to an end, beaten 2-0 away to Bell Park. The boys did not find any satisfaction today, aerial ping pong the ball spent so much time in the air we got dizzy watching it, not a good day compared to recent weeks. Round 16 31/7/2010 Some may say a cup final every week to the finish if so? then bring it on. The best game for the season has seen the lads blast away 3rd place Plenty Lions. Great football, teamwork, passing and finishing at its best. 5-1 win. Great performance. Round 15 24/7/2010 Playing away and coming into the game with good form the 2 sides attacked and pressured each other until an opening arrived for a shot into the corner of the net found Hoppers leading into the break. 2nd half again had both teams battling to find a away to hold off the other team, a quick throw in caught the Hoppers defence napping and the rebound was controlled ane knocked into the net 1-1, both teams did have chances to find the decider right up to the final whistle. 1-1 great game. Round 14 17/7/2010 Good football played at a pace which found both teams pressuring the goals and many a chance for both sides, Hoppers started to dominate until a give away goal meant we were now chasing the game again most weeks the usual for us 1/2 time 0-1. 2nd half finds Hoppers driving the bus attack after attack chance after chance save after save who is this man in Collingwoods goal? 6-7 television saves later final score 1-1 how did it get away the keeper had a day out great to watch the saves were the difference. Round 13 10/7/2010 3 in a row playing in the terrible conditions, really to windy to play good football, defended against the wind in the first half score was 0-0, 2nd half 2 well created goals which came from teamwork, great passing and excellent finishes had the boys toughing the game now, well on top played the conditions the best but again conceded the goal in the last minute final score winning away from home 1-2 excellent result. Round 12 3/7/2010 Hard work is paying off with 3 goals in the first 1/2, pressure, hard work and graft now shows with some consistancy. With a now struggling opposition unable to stop the game Hoppers showed more direct play and created many chances, stretching Melton at all times with another great passing move this was finished off to tally a final score of 4 - 0. Round 11 26/6/2010 Another side on the coin, tough, agressive football in wet conditions has seen the seniors finally stand up and be counted. Winning 2-0 was great football against a team who will push all other teams in the future. We need to string a few results together looking for consistancy every week, home again this week against Melton. Well done lots of chances created if not for the opposition keeper the score should have been many more. Round 10 19/6/2010 Well this time the seniors were behind 2-0 early with the referee whistle happy like the world cup, as the game progressed the seniors found there touch and hard work finally opening up the game, back in it at 2-1 then to concede another goal meant tough footy and a lift in endevours needed, the seniors fought to draw level at 3-3 with even a chance to pinch the winner, for the spectator we can look at the positve come back from the brink to share the points. Round 9 5/6/2010 Another performance that leaves the supporters perplexed, what can we say so much of the ball so many chances clearly the better side but again we cannot plug the gaps in defence. 1st half HCSC had every area of the ground covered tireless work rate saw us into the break 2-1 in front. The heavens opened up very difficult playing conditions for all players, slack marking and cheap free kicks given away cost us the score now 3-2 against, where did the groove go we now chased the game found another goal 3-3 thats it surely? no caught out again 2 v 1 at the back West Preston scored again 4-3 loss hard to take seemingly the better side again no reward. Tough questions must now be answered 90 minutes in a game we just switch off and cannot find the team work when challenged. Disapointing! Round 8 29/5/2010 Excellent start this week the boys controlling the game from the start, Alister Smart scoring a brace early in the game the opposition team struggling to get any share of the ball during a very good first half. back out from the rooms the team lost momentum and now the game had two teams end to end play attack after attack many chances not taken. Then the chameleon defence reappeared resulting in Lalor getting a goal back, Alister scored again his 3rd great finishing. Now poor marking, wasted scoring opportunities missed passes and at times chaotic defending saw lalor score 2 more goals belting home an equalising goal minutes from the end final score 3-3. As they say it's not over until the fat lady sings. Round 7 22/5/2010 Away to Western Eagles we foundout the hard way falling behind by 2 very early goals from poor marking andvery poor defence, now for the hard work to chase the game from behind we were now getting more of the ball and started to create many chances yet unable to finish off. 2nd half we again had the possession made many chances and really controlled the ball for long periods. Finding a goal seemed to be the hard part many great saves stopped many a chance, finally we score now we are back in it, great pressure tough tackles hard fought for opportunities would not fall our way, a great clearance by the defender with a a ball that had crossed the line only for the referee who was out of position unwilling to award the definate goal and the equaliser. Lost 2-1, we have to shut the back door first we paid dearly for our slack defence. Round 6 15/5/2010 Playing at home looking for a win at home against Bell Park. This game again showed glimses of good football great control of the game yet unable to show on the scoreboard for the hard work 1-1 1/2 time. Settling in and now controlling more of the ball the seniors hit the back of the net with a well worked goal and excellent finish 2-1 lead a power full header at the back post seemed to to be the difference and the just rewards for all the possession. Bell Park hit back to make the final score 3-2 win and yes at home.
Round 5 8/5/2010 How do you explain the game that got away? With Hoppers being the better team throughout the whole game yet lost to a very odd few minutes, for hoppers to take the lead andwithin a total of 5 minutes to be behind 2 - 1 with the opposition being awarded 2 penalties for hand ball in 3 minutes. The game was thrown into disbelief in such a short time, picking themselves up the pressure continued in search of the equaliser, it did not come although it has taken 3 goal line saves by their keeper to see the oppostion through to hold on 2 - 1. Round 4 1/5/10 The game of 2 halves, end to end play by 2 industrious teams, many chances at both ends and many hard fought for touches, half time 1-1. Hoppers seemed to take control when the second goal arrived from a forward run, pass and a quality finish, within a few minutes the game changed with an opposition corner came the turning point a sleeping defence a quality cross found the Hoppers defender handling the ball keeping the ball out of the goals the result was a penalty a red card and a great save which found a surf coast player who followed up to knock the ball home the 2-2 goal, one man down the team struggled to have any control, Surf Coast ran rampant using the spare man to find another 2 goals final score 2-4. Round 3 24/4/2010 The senior side played away verses CollingwoodFC, the lads found some form after last weeks lesson with a much more organised performance and forcing the pace and keeping the opposition on the back foot. Controlling the ball and forcing the game found our defence sleeping and going 1 nil down. Starting over again the pressure finally showed equalising through Marcus jablonski, from there Hoppers were awarded a penalty which rebounded off the post to Kevin Smart who followed up to slot the ball away. The 2nd half was much the same with long periods forcing the play but unable to finish the game off, HCSC withstood late pressure to win 2-1. Round 2 17/4/2010 First home game and back down to earth for the seniors, playing against Eppingthe seniors found themselves under a lot of pressure from a quick, strong and organised team. Early parts of the game was end to end until Epping found their way to score the first goal from a long through ball. A 2nd goal scored when our seniors were caught standing still and the Epping forward was rewarded for his efforts for attacking the ball from a free kick. half time score 0 -2, many chances were created by the senior team applying lots of pressure and forward play. With all efforts pushing forward and Epping appearing to tire the defence was opened up for a 3rd goal, no return for seniors now the boys efforts were eventually rewarded with a goal the game finished 1-3 loss. Hard work to continue. Round 1 10/4/2010 Congratulations to the seniors for there gutsy outstanding performance finishing the game 1-0 winners. The team played with 10 men for ninety minutes after the sending off of a defender by the referee in the early minutes of the first half. In a very physical game where Melton SC pressed home the player advantage wtihout being able to break down the senior teams desire to tough it out. If created chances were taken the seniors would have broken the the Melton spirit early. Worthy winners and good season start by the lads. |
