Round 20 28/8/2010 Holding on to the top spot has become the noose around the boys neck, physical demands are now showing that most of the young players need to find that spark they had early in the season. While winning 1-0 the game became a battle between the referee and the opposition who turned the game into hatred and agressive football that was not good to watch. Round 19 21/8/2010 Playing away a long way from a good performance the reserves playing well under par found the going tough. Not able to play the ball around on what must be the worst pitch of the season brought Hoppers down to size, the top spot hangs by a thread not more lapses or the efforts will not show reward. 1-4 loss. Round 18 14/8/2010 Very trying conditions extremely windy making ball control tough, with the aid of the wind the reserves found the back of the net 4 times in the first half. Great passing and movement opened up the defence time and time again. Final score 5-1 ladder leaders still. Round 17 7/8/2010 Still on top although a draw not the best result 1-1 it finished. The boys pay for their missed chances so many in the 2nd half some harder to miss than score. 3 point lead 15 points to play for. Round 16 31/7/2010 The run home to the finish line is now here, again the young squad stood tall rattling in 6 of the best to continue to lead the league, can we stand tall at the end 6 games left 18 points to play for. Well done again very good performance 6 - 0 win. Round 15 24/7/2010 Another game which needed a spark with both teams giving away the ball without any pressure being applied. Hoppers created the better chances and was finally rewarded with 2 great goals. Holding off to top spot for another week, the efforts again show the willingness to find the net well done. Round 14 17/7/2010 Top of table clash 1st v 2nd found Hoppers the better side and taking the lead with good work down the right 1/2 time 1-0 to the good. 2nd half became a battle of the old heads Collingwood against the young Hoppers squad, Collingwood getting into the game finding the back of the net to draw level. Final score 1-1 more points dropped yet still top of the table for another week. Round 13 10/7/2010 Very poor start to the game conceding within one minute a stupid goal, it has to have been the worst playing conditions extremely windy! very high winds made football tough. Battled along found the equaliser 1-1 game on? but the 2nd goal hurt a free unmarked player driving a header into the net 1/2 time 1-2 Now playing with the the wind and really no real plan we finished the game losing 1-2 on top of the table but now back in the pack. Round 12 3/7/2010 Settling into a good game plan of keeping the ball in control didn't have the desired effect as Melton reserves took the lead when players were left unmarked the 1/2 time score 0 -1. The 2nd half started with Hoppers controlling the ball and the game with good passing yet the final ball was a let down, late into the half the equaliser came from a well taken run from outside the box where the Melton players hung back this gave an open passage into the box, although the shot took a deflection it should have happened many times before. Finally the winner last kick of the day finished well into the corner of the net final score 2-1. Round 11 26/6/2010 Far better game this week a lot more effort against a willing side. It took until the second half to find the net and finish another week on top of the table. 2-0 win great work. Round 10 19/6/2010 Well again top of the table but far from convincing was the performance. Flat in idle and not the best team work, left with not much more to say. The final score 1-1. Round 9 5/6/2010 Great performance by a group of players who showed again that the squad has depth with many regular player moving up to the senior team. Playing away at West Preston the battle of 1 v 2 had HCSC playing the better football and the endevours and hard work in both halves created many chances for both teams. West Preston found the net twice in the first half with 2 goals that were gifted by HCSC. 2nd half under way again saw the boys controlling the game and finding the net, now it was game on HCSC pushing for the equaliser. Finally it came a few minutes to go 2-2 just reward for the better side holding on to top spot for another week. Well done lads. Round 8 29/5/2010 Top of the table well done boys winning again 3-0 at home sees the younger players starting to show some passion and match toughness. 3 goals in a short 5 minutes in the 2nd half opens the door to the top other the table clash 1 v 2 this weekend away to West Preston, grabbing hold of the chance to sit at the top for another week. keep it up lads. Round 7 22/05/2010 Inconsistency returns with the players taking a very early lead yet we see the equaliser from very poor passing and not great defending. the team shows flashes to good football yet they are not willing to take control of the game making the 1/2 time break the score 2-2. Another loud spray from the reserve coach and a demand that they take over as they started and stop the poor play and show why they are the league leader. 2 excellent finishes from Michael McDowell finally finished off the result a 2-4 win away. Now thats better.
Round 6 15/05/2010 Home against bell park the reserves played some very good football scored great goals with constructive passing and deft finishing, final score 4-1, a goos all round performance againsta very willing and physical side. Well done lads. Round 5 08/05/2010 The reserves played the most inconsistant lazy game that could be played against the poorest opposition so far this year, For the score to be 3 - 0 up at 1/2 time yet they never created any passion or finness to drive the score home in the 2nd half, disappointing effort hard to watch. Round 4 01/05/10 From outplayed the week before the boys came out to play, 2 sides wanting the ball, competitive players giving efforts with long periods of controlling the game. 2nd half again had the hoppers boys knocking the ball around creating many chances of which the rewards for efforts eventually came finishing off 4 -1 winners. Round 3 24/04/2010 The young boys were given a lesson by a much older team who were able to read the play and rebound, the defending was poor with their players running a muck the boys conceded 3 goals in the 1st half. It was not the game we have come to expect today the boys fell apart with poor passing, control a bad day 4-0 nil loss. Not a game i will want to remember. Round 2 17/04/2010 The reserves fought out another great game finding themselves down 0-2 showing the continued improvements to there game creating many chances and running out the game right to the last whistle returned the result 2-2 scoring in the 90 minute against last years champions (undefeated 2009) Well done lads Round 1 10/04/2010 First game of the season was played away at Melton, the squad finished the game with a 2-0 win, showing that they mean business again this year with another year under their belt the young players again show the desire to challenge the big boys. |
